Planned HRC steel import duty hike aborted
The Ministry of Finance, bowing to strong opposition by steelmakers and industry experts, has removed a planned increase of the Most Favored Nations import duty on hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel from 0% to 5%. The ministry included the duty increase in a draft government decree in a bid to prevent a possible influx of steel from China given the ongoing trade conflict between China and the U.S.

Go-Viet CEO Le Diep Kieu Trang quits
The ride-hailing firm Go-Viet has announced its leadership change, saying that Le Diep Kieu Trang will quit as chief executive officer of the firm from October 11. Trang has been in the job at Go-Viet for just five months, the local media reported. Before that, Trang served as Facebook’s country director for Vietnam.
