Quang Ninh welcomes over 4.2 million tourists in five months
According to the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the number of tourists to the province in May reached an estimated 456,400, bringing the total figure in the first five months this year to 4.2 million arrivals. This development makes up 55.1% of the year’s target and shows a year-on-year rise of 1%.
The 4.2 million arrivals included 1.2 million foreign arrivals, 43.8% of the year’s plan and up 8% compared to the same period last year. More than 1.53 million tourist arrivals stayed in the province overnight, 40.3% of the year’s plan and 98 percent of the same period last year.
Total tourism turnover over the past five months reached over VND2.42 trillion, a 13% rise over a year earlier.
In May, Quang Ninh successfully organised Ha Long Tourism Week 2014 with a series of attractive programmes such as the Ha Long Carnival Festival, the Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival and the Quang Ninh Trade and Tourism Fair with exhibitions, sporting activities and art performances.
Between April 29 and May 4, more than 500,000 tourists visited Quang Ninh. Specifically, on May 1-2, Ha Long greeted over 20,000 tourists each day. Tourism turnover during the Ha Long Tourism Week 2014 reached over VND210 billion.
